{CAMP NANO VLOG} i ramble about writing

if you know where I am bc of all the pictures, shhh don't say ;)
HEY LOOK I DID MY FIRST VLOG. O.O

On the first of the month, I opened up a survey for you to ask ALL the questions about my writing, and I answered them in the video below.

YES I ACTUALLY TALKED. #introvertaccomplishments

The video ran a little long, but I managed to cut off about ten minutes (in other words, I rambled for a half hour but cut the video down so it is only seventeen minutes).

So...yeah. I can't believe I'm actually posting a vlog xD

(NOTE: I talk about my novel, Found, and my "trilogy." I realized after I filmed that this might be confusing. To clarify, Found is the first novel in my trilogy. Thus Found and my trilogy are really one and the same).

Please excuse any weird cuts and awkward/cringy moments when I trail off speculating, make weird faces, or laugh at my own jokes :P

Without further ado, here is the vlog:

If it doesn't play, click here

*peeks out from behind hands* Hopefully that wasn't too bad. It was my first time, after all xD

(to clarify: I haven't considered any idea completely "polished" and my first "book" was six pages long. I watched the video when I was done and shook my head at that like "Audrey, Audrey, you just made it more confusing!" ;)

I mentioned toward the end that I'm going to be at Realm Makers the last week of the month (that's what the business cards are for, btw). OMW THAT'S NEXT WEEK. O.O I'm leaving on Wednesday and will be back on Sunday. I'll try to keep up with emails and stuff, but I'm not exactly sure how much time (if any) I'll have to be online.

However, next Saturday, I'm taking part in a blog tour! I'm reviewing a wonderful novel called The Coronation. So stay tuned for that!

ANYWAY I hope you enjoyed the vlog and I'll see you in a few weeks!

Have you ever done a vlog before? How is Camp NaNo going for you? Do you snack while writing???

  1. You did really well in your vlog! I've thought about one day vlogging, but that day is not today. XD
I don't usually eat, either. Too messy. I can forget to eat, though, so I have to keep water with me at least.
I pick out songs that would be the soundtrack if my book was a movie. But, I listen to them when I need to get in the mood of the scene. I usually can't listen to music while writing unless its just instrumental.

Where did you make your business cards? Was it online or at a store? I'm thinking about starting my own business and I would need business cards. (The business has nothing to do with writing. I'm trying to make some money and I want to be my own boss.)

You did an awesome job. :D
    God bless you! <3

Well, when the day comes, I'll be excited to watch xD

Yeah, blocking out lyrics can be pretty hard :P I used to listen to Hillsong United while writing, but now my brain just can't take so many words at once.

I made my business cards on Canva, and uploaded the files to Vistaprint to order. You can also design them on Vistaprint, but I wanted my business cards to look like my blog header :)

    2. Ooh, that's cool. I have a Canva account, so I can make them there. I'll have to check out Vistaprint, then.
Blocking out lyrics is pretty impossible. If I want to listen to my book's "soundtrack," I have to do it before or if I'm stuck in a scene. :p

  2. Good job! It wasn't bad at all. :)

  3. I love watching vlogs, and yours was great! I loved hearing about how you write! My word counts tend to be pretty long-ish too. Well, I've only "completed" one novel (meaning first draft), actually, and it was a little over 100,000. It took me a looooong time to write it, though, because I'm not a fast writer.

    1. Thanks, Lila! I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Monster word counts are tough :P It's like it takes us years to write and edit long novels, but people will end up reading the book in a week or less if they're fast. *sigh* The life of a writer ;)

  5. I'M SO INSPIRED TO TRY A VLOG NOW WHOA. XD I've always wanted to do one but never really got around to it? Plus my video editing knowledge is pretty much zilch so yeah there's a learning curve there lol.

ALSO. REALM MAKERS. *FLAILS* I'M SO EXCITED ASDFDALK. I meant to get business cards also but I've been super scatterbrained lately? (shh let's pretend like I'm not scatterbrained all the time) Like I LITERALLY just remembered that I needed a costume so I had to order one online... THANK GOODNESS FOR AMAZON PRIME. Even then though I'm pretty sure it's getting here on Wednesday. XD Oh well.

Also, are you going to the pre-conference workshop or no? My Dad and I are because we're also leaving on Wednesday and if we don't then we have nothing to do for most of Thursday. xP

    1. YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO ONE. If a little introvert like me can, a ninja extrovert like you will have no problem XD
So are mine :P I contacted Abbiee for recommendations on which program to use, and I'm sure she would know some tutorials too.

Dude, you forgot your business cards? xD Then again, I'm not coming in costume. #moneyproblems and...my general inability to ever decide on one (not that I've known I might need one for about six months now XP).

YES. I'm also getting in on Wednesday so I can be rested for the per-conference workshop. I guess I'll see you there O.O

  7. AAHH AUDREY, you are so sweet and softspoken <3 *hugs you* You did so well! Like usually I don't watch vlogs all the way but I stayed all the way for yours, you didn't ramble at all and your questions were interesting :) <3 I also loved the background music, it was really relaxing.

Basically all that ^ rambling means I REALLY LIKED IT :D <3. I wish you good luck with your WIP! You are one good example of hardwork and perseverance, keep it up <3

  8. Wow nice vlog! For your first time doing it I think you did a great job! I haven't filmed any vlogs but I had to make some videos for class. Ooohhh Two Steps from Hell! I like listening to their music (yeah not crazy about the name either). Have you heard their song "Victory" One of my favorites

Man everyone seems to be off to Realm Makers, I Hope you have a fun time! I wish I could be there. Maybe Next time.

    1. Thank you, Marrok! I'm not much of a movie-making person, but this vlog worked ;)

I LOVE THAT SONG. It's the BEST for battle scenes (well, all their music is!).

Thanks, I will! I hope you can maybe go next time. :D

  9. Oh my gosh, you're so cute, Audrey, and you did so well! xD I also made my first book with staples, too. It'd be super fun to publish like a ton of authors stapled first stories into an anthology. I also like writing in first person past, but I've been trying to avoid it lately, because sometimes third and second person go underappreciated but they're super fun to write and help build versatility as a writer??? I don't know. ^.^'

Oh, wow, that would be so cool! Seeing all of that in one place would be a huge inspiration, especially to writers who are just starting out.

I have yet to write in second person, but now I'm thinking I should try!

  11. AUDREY YOU ARE TOO ADORABLE STAHP <333 I seriously LOVED THIS VLOG SO MUCH!! It was awesome to hear all about your writing process!! And I can relate SO MUCH to a lot of this wow...especially the plot bunny thing. WHY?? WHY DO PLOT BUNNIES ATTACK US AT THE MOST INCONVENIENT HOURS OF THE NIGHT?? It's seriously not fair. :') I've started a notebook for midnight ideas and I leave it on my nightstand with a pen so if inspiration strikes at some ridiculous hour, I can always write it down! (I have a REALLY REALLY REALLY SELECTIVE memory *nervous laughter* so I have to write down literally everything and usually I come back and read it and...lol...IT'S ALL NEW TO ME. so yes ahem.)

Your business cards are so cool!! I hope you have a terrific time at Realm Makers! :D AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT VLOG. <3

    rock on!

    1. THANK YOU, ABBIEE xD

Ugh, I NEED to get better at writing my ideas down! Having a notebook and pen is such a good idea. I usually just stare at the ceiling in the dark and watch the plot bunnies chase each other around until I'm practically hypnotized and then they race out of sight. XD

Thank you, I will! Ack, yes, the vlog will probably be in October for my one-year blogversary which I can't believe I've almost been blogging for a year???

  12. ACK OH MY GOODNESS YOU DID A VLOG. *SCREAMS*

Can I just say: YOU ARE SUPER PRETTY. <333 And I love your voice and way of talking. Also your accent. And the way you pronounced some certain words. I'll admit that there was a moment somewhere in there when I squealed internally "AW HOW CUTE" because of the way you said something. XD (I'm odd like that sometimes. XP)

And just basically eep yes I loved this whole thing so much, and you're so precious. I need to meet you in person. <33 *cries* I have a dream that one day I'll get to Realm Makers but money and distance. :( *sigh* But talking to you with my voice and your voice would be so cool. (*realises how weird that phrasing sounds* oh well XD)

(and sorry I'm late, I saw this when you posted but I was on the computer that doesn't have sound and eep I was dyyying to watch this for too long. >.<)

ONE DAY. I wish we all lived close together so we could have write-ins and just flail over books and writing (and foil characters!) in person. It would be so cool to meet you face to face one day!

No worries! THANK YOU for your wonderful comment <33
