LET'S DO SUMMER {BUCKET LIST + TBR}

Saturday, June 10, 2017

IT'S SUMMER.

Okay, so not literally, since it's not the 21st yet, but I consider it summer whenever school is out, which is June, so...

It's summer. I'm leaving it at that xD

- Hike into Yosemite Valley. I'm going to Yosemite this summer with my dad! (hopefully. there's a lot of snow in the area XP) We went last year, and this year we're hoping to hike in or out of the valley. In sounds easier, thus we'll be doing that xD

- Ride some bike trails. There's three trails I'm dying to get my bike on this summer, and I will not leave the mountains without going on them. Despite how much uphill is involved... and how out of shape I am right now :P

- Send Found to an editor. This one might not happen with how things are coming along right now, but I want to at least finish line-editing before September.

- Write draft #4 of Outcast. This one might not happen either. I really want to write it for July NaNo, but I just started the outline and the plot bunnies are raging; I'm going to have to change a lot of things. Writing this might be on hold until September XP

- Do a blog makeover. IT'S COMING. I finally decided on colors and stuff. Now I'm just creating the designs for all my other social media.

- Film a vlog. Just bc I've always wanted to. Problem is... I don't know how to edit videos :P Anyone have recommendations for video editing software and tutorials?

- Learn to drive a stick shift. Again, just because xD We have one car that's a stick shift, and since I'm already driving, I might as well learn. You know, have the car stall out a million times on some dirt road.

- Watch a sunrise and sunset in the mountains. Mountain sunsets and sunrises are epic. Period.

- See a green flash. Meaning I'll be watching a sunset at the beach too ;)

- Attend Realm Makers. *flailing* I'M SO EXCITED.

- Do more writing prompts. Upon writing Found again, I realized how rusty my writing style had become with so little creative writing. This summer I want to fill a journal up with writing prompts! So far I've done the taste and sound of joy and hope.

- Take a blogging hiatus. *cries* I know! I'm thinking of taking three weeks in August, just to lap up the last of the summer fun ;)

(in which I FINALLY flail about books)

Yup. All of them. I'm on The King's Scrolls right now. SOMEONE FLAIL WITH ME ABOUT EXILES BECAUSE I'M DYING AS I WAIT FOR RELEASE DAY adfjkl;

HAVE YOU READ THIS SERIES? If not, go do it. I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, but after that I ADORED all of them. Leith and Martyn are awesome.

 32927141

I've heard so much about this and have even communicated with Jaquelle a few times??? (*squealing*) . I HAVE a copy of the book but I haven't read it. I'm such a horrible bookworm XP

If you follow my Instagram (*cough* this isn't self-promotion *cough*) then you might have seen the picture of me holding these books a few months ago. I HAVEN'T READ THEM. I know, that's horrible. I just go so carried away by Outlining Your Novel that I never got around to rushing through the other ones.

I feel like everyone has read this but me, and I hear it's really good, and I'm always looking for clean Christian fantasy, so go figure. xD

11823941

I used to not be a huge fan of allegory. But now that I'm planning on writing my own, I ADORE it and I MUST read this book.

And finally, I have three series I want to read, ONE of which I'm hoping to start before the end of the summer: Lord of the Rings, Narnia, or Percy Jackson. I can't read ALL of them, but I cannot for the life of me decide which one to read first :P I've read half of LotR before, Narnia back when I was eleven, and I haven't read Percy Jackson before. WHAT SHOULD I DO PLEASE HELP ME.

I'm going to be having a busy summer just deciding that. xD

Audrey Caylin

What's your summer bucket list? What's on your TBR? Which series should I read? PLEASE HELP AND FLAIL ABOUT THEM TO MAKE IT HARDER FOR ME TO CHOOSE. xD

Thank you! I hope you have a great summer too! <3

  2. You should definitely read LotR. It's long but so worth it.

You get to go to Realm Makers?! Jealousy! I wish I could go to that, but my family is hosting a little girl from Ukraine this summer and I'm traveling to D.C. with my pro-life club so... no time or money XP

I hope you have a great summer!

Awww, that's really cool and important! I hope you have an awesome time <3 <3

      Thanks for reading!

    1. *ENDLESS FLAILING* I'M SO EXCITED I THINK I'VE SAID IT A DOZEN TIMES IN BLOG COMMENTS/ON MY BLOG??? I spent the morning researching all the editors and agents that are going to be there xD Are you doing the pre-conference workshop?

  4. That sounds like an awesome summer plan. You have a a lot ahead! And Read LOTR! It is the best of all I must say, I read the whole Percy Jackson series and Narnia. But If you want something more summery I guess you should read Percy. And the vlog thingie! Do you use apple devices? If you do then use iMovie. It is the best thing ever!
I'm so excited to see the new blog design and the vlog! *Flails* AHH
This summer is going to be AWESOME and that reminds me I need to make a summer bucket list and a TBR too...

    1. That's two votes for LotR so far xD It's been so long since I've read the first ones even though I've seen all the movies.

I have a Dell laptop right now, so no :P Or I could steal my mom's computer... ;)

I'M SO EXCITED TOO. I'm in love with the new graphics and am already trying to figure out what to do for the vlog. Do you think I should do a Camp NaNo update or like a full-blown Q&A thing?

      Delete
    2. Do BOTH! But if you can only do one then do Camp NaNo... :) I can't wait to see them!

  5. I love your bucket list! Mountain sunrises and sunsets are sooo beautiful! Oh, you're gonna learn how to drive a stick? That's cool! There are a lot of stick shift cars here, but I've never driven one. Apparently, a lot of people (at least around here) think it's best to learn on a stick shift.

I loove your TBR! I've read the Blades of Acktar, as you know. ;) I'm currently reading Samara's Peril in the Ilyon Chronicles. I haven't read Orphan's Song either. I couldn't even tell you if I shelved it on Goodreads. If I haven't, I'll have to add it. :)

I've actually never read the Lord of the Rings. *hides* I know, it's bad. But I plan on reading them this year. I've only read half of the Chronicles of Narnia. I also plan on finishing the series this year. But I've read alll the Percy Jackson books. They are so good! (hoping I'll have time for a few rereads at some point) I will warn you though, there is one character in the Percy Jackson series that gets a little weird. But they're a minor character and you only see them in a few scenes, which are spread out. But other than that character, the series is AMAZING! :D

    1. I know! It's weird that nearly every adult is telling me "you should learn to drive a stick shift." And I'm thinking "why? everything will be hybrid in a few years but okay" XD

AAAHHH THE LAST BOOK WAS SO EPIC. I think it's my favorite in the entire series, though Defy is nearly as good. Martyn really won me over though ;)

I quit in the middle of Two Towers, so I understand xD
Thanks for the heads up! I have a sibling who has read all of them, so I'll make sure to ask about that. Now I'm tied for LotR and Percy Jackson...

  6. Ah great minds think alike lol. I just did a post like this for today haha. AND REALM MAKERS I wish I was going this year. :((((( But the plane ticket would have cost me my left kidney. It was so much fun the year I went..... I HOPE YOU HAVE A BLAST!!!

    1. Haha I've seen another post like ours so I guess it's that time of year ;)

Well, unless Realm Makers is on the west coast next year too, I'll be in the same position. I'll start saving pennies now :P

      *flails* Thanks! I'M SO EXCITED.

  7. Yosemite sounds so awesome! And EEK I hope you get Found off to an editor -- that would be soooo cool. You'll have to tell us how it goes! And aw, we'll be sad when you take your hiatus, but we understand! Summer must be fun and blogging is stressful. XD

I don't find blogging supper stressful, but I want to get off the computer during the last bit of summer ;)

  8. Wow you're gonna be busy!! Hope everything turns out ok and that you get to do all those things - hiking sounds like something my out-of-shape body would die doing, but I wish you the best of luck ;)
A vlog?! Cool! I don't know a lot about that stuff, but I used to make fandom videos on YouTube and I used Sony Vegas Pro 13. It's easy once you get the hang of it, and I loved it. Feel free to ask if you have questions about it and I'll try help :)

  9. ASDFGHJKL I WANT TO ATTEND REALM MAKERS SO BAD! But because I live far away from the continental part of the country I just cannot and therefore further cannot and just *FLAILS*

I UNDERSTAND SO MUCH ABOUT PLOT BUNNIES. There's this one that just snapped at me yesterday that's super intriguing, and while I don't know much about it, it's so startle different to other projects I've had it needs to be written like RIGHT NOW.

As for book series, if you haven't read Percy Jackson, read the series! It's really good and I enjoyed it so much, even though the series is aimed towards a middle grade audience.

    1. Maybe one day! Though I feel like it's a one-time thing that Realm Makers is west coast, so I'll be saving spare change to go next year :P

THAT'S SO AWESOME. Even though they distract from our usual projects, there's something to cool about a story that needs to be written NOW.

Thanks! Now Percy Jackson is in the lead for votes ;)

  10. Sounds like a fun summer. I'm a little late to learning how to drive, so one of my goals is getting my license. I hope to ride my bike more during the summer, but I'm from the south and that means hot summers. Very hot summers. This coming week alone is going to be very hot out.
    *sighs*

An editor?! That's awesome. One of my other goals is having my mom read my unknown numbered draft for my WIP. Then it will be time for more revisions.

The other thing I want to do is get a part-time job, but that might have to wait until fall. It depends on when I get my license.

Driving stick sounds scary to me. Good luck with that. :)

I also plan to write a lot. Maybe read a little. I love to read and hope to go to the library more often this summer.

    1. Also, what are the green flashes? (This might be a stupid question.)

      Delete
    2. Ugh, I can only imagine the heat :P It gets about 80+ degrees with high humidity where I am, but I hear it's worse in the south.

Ooooh that will be so fun! My mom is my alpha reader, and has been a huge help with my writing in the past months.

Green flashes happen during sunsets at the beach. If it's a clear night, when the sun slips below the ocean, there's this little spark of green -- a green flash. Have you seen the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean movie? They're like that, only a whole lot smaller in real life. Don't feel bad about asking; it's more of a pacific cost thing :)

Good luck getting your license! I hope you have a great summer <3

      Delete
    3. Yes, it gets really bad here. The humidity is high and the high temperature can get to over 100. On top of that, there is a heat index that is usually higher so it feels even hotter.

I'm making my mom my Alpha reader, too. Before, I didn't like anyone reading what I was writing, but I've figured out that I need help.

I've never seen Pirates of the Caribbean, but I can imagine what it looks like. Sounds pretty cool.

Thank you! I've been afraid of driving, but at this point it's necessary to drive. I want to get a job and make some money.

Hope you have a wonderful summer, too! <3 :D

  11. FINISH LORD OF THE RINGS!!!! YOU MUSTTTT!!! And then read Narnia again, and then Percy Jackson. XD All three are good but the first two are the best.

The worst part of driving a stick shift is the first few times. Once you've got it down it's pretty easy. Each car is different too, so you'll have to feel them all out at first. My car is standard and the truck I feed cows in at home is as well, so over this past winter using them both pretty frequently I've gotten pretty good at it. I used to be trash though. XD Doing it consistently for awhile is the key. Good on you for wanting to learn!
Post pictures of your Yosemite hike if you go! I would love to see. :D

    1. AAHHH NOW I'M TIED AGAIN FOR VOTES. xD I'm sort of leaning toward LotR right now though.

I've seen my brother learn how to drive a stick shift, so I'm halfway prepared for what comes ;) My dad will probably take me on some back road so it won't matter if I stall out.

      I will! :D
