The Christmas Post

Hey everyone! How had your month been so far? Mine has just flown by. I looked at the calendar the other day and thought "no way, Christmas is only a few days away?!?"

And today is also the first day of winter! (Unless you're in a different part of the world, in which it's probably something different ;-) )

Anyway, I'll stop pointing out the obvious and get on with the post.

Gifts

With Christmas so very close, I've been thinking about gifts a lot lately. Not the physical aspect of them though, but the part you can't see. I realized gifts are double-sided: the receiver gets the actual gift, while the giver gets the receiver's gratitude as thanks. I thought that was a pretty cool concept.

While I had gifts on my mind, I realized I haven't given you guys any snippets yet! \(*.*)/  So today, I'm sending you all a cyber-present of five snippets from my WIPs, three from Found and two from my Nano novel, Verity of Tomorrow. Enjoy!

(And I won't rant on and on about how much editing these need *hides behind hands*)

I got to try a bit of dystopian with the opening scenes

Writing dialogue between these characters has been a blast I <3 my rebels

I wrote this in the basement. Listening to dark movie scores. Home alone. I like to get into the mood of my scenes XD.
You have no idea how long I've waited to use that last line

Maybe I chose to do my nano novel as sci-fi so I could mess around with guns and dark corridors? (This comment should not at all disturb you)

*peeks back out* Sorry for the typos. I did say they needed editing, didn't I? ;)

“March came in that winter like the meekest and mildest of lambs, bringing days that were crisp and golden and tingling, each followed by a frosty pink twilight which gradually lost itself in an elfland of moonshine.”

Well, I hope you enjoyed those snippets, and I'll try to share them more often without giving away any spoilers :P

I will be replying to comments here before I go dark for Christmas. Seriously, comments make my day and one of my favorite things about blogging so far has been connecting with people who don't live anywhere near me (excuse me for sounding so old-fashioned, but isn't technology just awesome like that???)

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or anything else you might be celebrating/doing this week! I'll miss commenting on blogsphere and replying here, but will be back for an end of the year wrap-up post on New Year's Eve that I'm super excited about :D
